Lip balm Collection revisited

A few days ago, I randomly decided to count the number of lip balms that I owned. The last time I blogged about my lip balm collection was in December 2010 and since then it has grown quite a bit. Turns out that I have a nice collection (obsession) of 39 lip balms. This is not including any back up lip balms that I have, as well as the Vaseline lip tin. So without further ado, here's a collage of my lip balm collection =)

(click on the image for actual image size)

So there are quite a lot there, and I'll just list the names below (incase anyone does want to know).
Starting in the top left hand corner:

E.L.F Therapeutic conditioning lip balm (Vanilla), Softlips (French Vanilla), Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie, Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss (Grapefruit), The Body Shop Lip Roll on (Mint), TBS Papaya Lip Butter, TBS Mango Lip Butter, Rose&Co Rose Petal Salve, Rose&Co Cherry Kiss, Vaseline Lip Therapy tube, Carmex Classic, Nivea Light Kiss
E.L.F Candy Shop Lip Gloss (Berry Pop), Lip Smackers Coca Cola, Simple Pleasures Citrus Cooler, SP Coconut Vanilla Bean, SP Pineapple Mandarin, SP Mango Sugar Cane, SP Hibiscus Kiwi, SP Passionfruit Orchid, TBS Born Lippy Cool Mint, TBS Born Lippy Strawberry, H&M Fresh Lime, H&M Fresh Mint
I Love...Raspberry & Blackberry, Boots Extracts Cocoa Butter, Madinat Jumeirah Coconut Lip Balm, Celia Birtwell Lip Balm, LUSH Lip Dip Lip Scrub (LE), LUSH Sweet Lips Lip Scrub, E.L.F Studio Conditioning Lip Balm SPF15 (Mellow Melon), Sleek Pout Polish Perfect Plum, Sleek PP Raspberry Souffle (LE), Sleek PP Peach Perfection, Sleek PP Frosting, Lip-o-cino Ice Berries, Next Sweet Mango Lip Balm, H&M Pink Frosting and H&M Creme Brulee

note: TBS = The Body Shop, SP = Simple Pleasures, PP = Pout Polish.

And here's how I store some of them, stacked up on top of one another. These are the ones that I reach for the most and therefore are kept on my desk instead of in my drawer =)

(tray from TBS Body Butter Trio)

I don't have one favourite lip balm, but I do use a few more than others =)
- The Celia Birtwell Lip Balm is kept in my bag (and is transferred from bag to bag!)
- Carmex is the one I use the most at home
- The Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie is my most unique (and it smells like chocolate!)
- I use the E.L.F therapeutic conditioning lip balm before going to sleep (not really for any particular reason)
- Sleek Pout Polishes are used when I want a bit of colour on my lips, but not bothered to wear lipstick/lipgloss (which is probably why they're kept with the rest of my coloured lip products)
- I love the LUSH Sweet Lips lip scrub! It smells great and you can simply lick it off after scrubbing (I know there's probably a cheaper/easier way of making it at home but for now this is chocolate and vanilla goodness)
- The newest lip balms in my collection are the H&M Pink Frosting and H&M Creme Brulee (which both have Disney inspired tins and smell gorgeous)

Hope you enjoyed this blog post! Let me know what kind of things you like to collect in the comments below =)

E.L.F Studio Matte Lip Pencils [review]

Last month I ordered the studio matte lip pencils during the E.L.F cosmetics 50% off sale. Since then I have used both of them and decided to share my thoughts here =) I ordered two of the four shades available, in Praline and Tea Rose.

(one swipe of each)

The texture of the pencils is soft, but not so soft that it just melts. You would generally expect from most matte products that they would be drying, and these pencils (while I wouldn't call them moisturising) don't dry out the lips very much. I tend to use these under a layer of lip balm (which defeats the matte effect), but it helps the colour to 'spread' more evenly. I have to say that I definitely use Praline more than Tea Rose, as it's the colour which is closest to my natural lip colour, whereas tea rose doesn't work so well with my skin tone. I do recommend these pencils as they are so easy to use, either as a lip liner or for all over colour (as I use it), there really isn't a special technique to it (and they are cheap at £3.50).

Have you tried the E.L.F. matte lip pencils? What do you think?

UnderMyAbaya:Cold Day

ASOS striped over the knee socks, $8.73
Zipper boots, $50
Bangles, $34
Animal Print Scarf, £18
Skinny Jeans, $48

This under abaya outfit is perfect for a cold day. A long sleeve polo neck to keep warm, layered with a tunic so that when I take off the abaya, I'm still wearing something modest underneath. Paired with skinny jeans which are tucked into warm socks and then worn with casual slouch boots. Accessorise with diamante bangles for a bit of bling and a simple patterned scarf, preferably one which is made of a thicker material, or has a tight woven weave (so that it's keeps you warm).

What would you wear on a cold day?

Project 10 Pan

In an attempt to use up makeup and skincare products that I already own, I am starting a project 10 pan. I'll be documenting my progress on the blog, and i'm hoping it'll be successful. It's a way to stop me from buying more skincare and makeup products and use up what I already have. (and then treat myself after using up 10 products).

Anyone attempting Project 10 pan? or something similar?
Let me know in the comments =)

A request to the blog readers

I'm hoping not to make it a habit to ask things of you, but if there is one thing that I would like for my blog readers to do, it would be to sign the e-petition regarding the trial of the British citizen Babar Ahmad. He has been detained without trial for 7 years and is currently fighting extradition to the USA (even though he is a British citizen, not an American one).
I am not saying he is innocent or guilty but my only point is that he should face trial in the UK. Under Article 6 of European Convention of Human Rights, a person has a right to have a fair trial with presumption of innocence (innocent until proven guilty).

If the petition receives 100'000 signatures before 10th November 2011, the issue at hand will be debated in the House of Commons. You can find the petition HERE.

Also, for more information about the case of Babar Ahmad, I recommend the following articles and websites.

I hope you all take the chance to sign the petition.

100+ Reading Challenge September Update

As of the 30th September 2011 (last Friday) I have finished reading 47 books. Find out what I've been reading here. The CHERUB books are actually for young teens, but I started reading the series a good few years ago, and now that the original series is complete I thought I'd finish reading them all. Brings back memories of sitting in the Secondary school library at lunchtime, trying to read as much as possible while sneakily eating away without getting caught. How time has changed! Now I'm trying to fit in small amounts of reading time, between blocks of uni, coursework and final year project, as well as daily life =)

Does anyone have a book recommendations? I'd love to hear what you're reading at the moment.
