I don't know if you've ever had this issue, when you want to wear a jumper/cardigan/sweater but the sleeves on your abaya means that your arms look bulky and it can sometimes be uncomfortable.
Easy solution? Wear a sleeveless, t-shirt style or bandeau style maxi dress, which can be worn over a basic long sleeve top if you want/need arm coverage. Because of the sweater/jumper no one will know whether you are wearing an abaya or a maxi dress. You could even pair together a maxi skirt and long sleeve top (check out MangoWhirl's blog post on 3 ways to wear a black maxi skirt for inspiration and idea's).
Below are some outfit's that are inspired by the maxi dress and jumper combination =)
Bandeau style maxi dress and a cropped jumper:
Vest/sleeveless maxi dress and a cropped jumper:
Long sleeve t-shirt maxi dress with 3/4 sleeve jacket:
Just a note: If the maxi dress is made of a jersey fabric, make sure to get a larger size so that it doesn't stick to you (and thus doesn't show your body shape) =)

I love all three looks! and this is rare for me you have converted me =D Where is the jumper from in the first pic I love! and the jacket jumper style in the last pic with the scarf go so well together. great post!
ReplyDeleteAlso you need to teach me how to make pictures like this!
Yay! I should have mentioned that if you click the images it'll take you to the Polyvore website =) The jumper in the first pic is from Jane Norman link:(http://www.janenorman.co.uk/fcp/product/buy-fashion-look-fabulous/knitwear/pink-multi-stripe-cropped-jumper/12251?colour=pnk)
ReplyDeleteThey're made on a website called Polyvore =) Basically, just sign up to the website, so that you can save the outfits, and click away! There's so many item's on there and it doesn't have to be limited to clothes =)
Those are totally my style! I can never get myself to wear sleeveless tops or dresses because they are so uncomfortable and shift around so much. Jumpers have become my new obsession!!

@ Hazar- When I wear sleeveless maxi dresses I always used to wear a long sleevetop underneath, but with a jumper over the top, it looks a lot nicer and is definitely more comfortable!I need to invest in some cosy jumpers =)
ReplyDeleteI really like the first look .. I think I going to have to try it

Definitely! A cropped jumper over a maxi dress with a few sinple accessories =] suits practically anyone! X
DeleteLove this idea!
ReplyDeleteAlthough i'd be a little wary with some of the thinner jersey type material dresses as they can cling(!) eek. Not good if you have an hour glass figure! Don't want to put all that effort covering our awrah and then have a booty sticking out hehe :))
so true! I always buy my maxi dresses a few sizes bigger if they're made of jersey, and pair it with a long jumper/cardigan. I love the maxi dresses that have a chiffon (or similar material) layer over a jersey lining as it hides the figure and gives an elegant finish =)
DeleteOhhhh, I love the shout out, choccy!! <3 And, those outfit choices are SO cute! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I don't do many OOTD's so Polyvore sets are the next best thing =)
