I don't tend to wear maxi skirts, as I'm pretty much wearing an abaya all the time, however for everyone who doesn't wear an abaya (or even those who do, and just want to mix up their outfits every now and again), maxi skirts are pretty much a staple piece in a hijabi's wardrobe. Although I don't wear them, I have to agree that they are modest (providing that they are not sheer!) and are extremely versatile as they can be worn dressed up or more casually. I would recommend going for a non-sheer maxi skirt, which is preferably made from a fabric that doesn't cling to the body (try to avoid ones made from jersey).
Here are a few maxi skirts that I've found which are currently being sold online (most of which are available in other colours) =)

I've been wanting that skirt from Matalan for aaaaaaaaaaaages now, but it's always out of stock and I never get time to go to the actual store. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteYou should do more of these posts - they're v good for those who are new to modest clothing :) xx
inshaAllah it'll be back in stock soon! Yep, definitely going to revive my 'hijabi tip' series! It has been neglected for quite a long time =)
DeleteAssalamualeikum wa rahmatulahi wa Barakatuhu dear sis :) jazakillahu khairan for the comment on my blig. Thats right, they are called rondelles! I knew there was a name for those beads, I just couldn't remember :)
ReplyDeleteAs for these skirts, I really love the look of them :) Im only 156 cm tall though, so I don't really know if it will look nice
:D
Wa alaikum Salaam! It took me ages to figure out what the were called! I had to buy some, and I'd say something and they'd look at me like I was talking another language =S
DeleteI think maxi skirts look good regardless of height! It just depends on the whole outfit. Heels/wedges are the obvious choice to look taller, but also a loosely tucked in blouse and a long line cardigan over the top would give the illusion(correct word?) of height. Just mix and match and wear what you feel comfortable in =)
thank you for mentioning me Asmaa :) I now want to purchase all of the maxi skirts above *eeek*
ReplyDeleteIt's no problem! Your style can inspire everyone =D
DeleteLol I think having a few maxi skirts (in different colours of course) in one's wardrobe is a good staple! I need to buy one to experiment with =) Just waiting for the end of summer when they will be on sale hopefully *fingerscrossed* =)
