Welcoming 2016 =)

Yes, I know I'm three days late, but Happy New Year to all my readers! I should really be doing some lesson planning in preparation for work tomorrow, but thought a quick blog post shouldn't hurt =)

I don't really have any new year's resolutions for this year, apart from passing my NQT year. Other than that, I'm just looking forward to seeing how the year progresses (and also attending a few friend's weddings which are also coming up in the year!). This year will definitely be more career focused as I am responsible for my own class. Even though I don't spend all my time at school, I do spend a lot of time thinking about (and preparing for) work. I'm also trying to find a work-life balance (which sounds impossible) and will be getting back to swimming on a regular basis as well as other things.

In other non-work related news, I also changed the colour of my dip dye today. Previously, it has been pink and then blue, but I thought I would start the new year with the end of my hair dyed purple. The bottom of my hair has been bleached until almost white and then I applied the colour over the top. For anyone who wants to know, I use the Colour Freedom dyes, as they are semi-permanent so I can either top-up the colour, or change it (depending on my mood) as it starts to fade.

Hopefully, I'll be blogging a bit more than last year as I don't have any more assignments (student life has finally come to an end!), but I'm also hoping to be scrapbooking and crafting a lot more this year too.

Hello lovely readers! And a belated Eid Mubarak! I can't believe it's been over a month since I last blogged. A lot has happened in the past few weeks from attending weddings, to starting a new job and just generally catching up with stuff. Unfortunately, I've had to stop painting as I just don't have the time (life of an NQT), but I'm still trying to scrapbook monthly with my Project Life album. I have a few blog posts in my drafts so will hopefully be posting more regularly, but until then, I'm off to do some planning and marking =)

A Little Update [Back to Uni]

Just thought I'd update you all on what I'm doing at the moment. By now you probably know that I'm back at university studying for my Primary PGCE. I went through the Schools Direct (unsalaried) route as I wanted to stay within my local community. Other than knowing where my placements will be, it's not at all different from the university based PGCE route. What I didn't realise was that teacher training, along with all the practical school experience, involves a lot of paper work! So, if I'm a little quiet on the blog as well on FB/Twitter/Instagram, you'll know it's because I'm probably busy completing tasks for various portfolio's and trying to keep on top of my assignments. I will try and blog regularly, but realistically, I'll be in (semi) hibernation until July next year.

One thing is for sure, teacher training is definitely not an easy year, so I'm a bit worried about the actual teaching!

Hello 2014!

So as the first day of 2014 comes to an end, I just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone! I've been looking back over the past year and even though I didn't set myself any goals last year, I think I accomplished quite a bit! 2013 was an important year as I started full-time work at the end of January 2013 (nearly been there a whole year) and as a result have had less time to focus on my blog and my business. I managed to go to quite a few blogger meet-ups (even went down to Brighton for a day), weddings and holidays during the year which I enjoyed! And I pretty much Instagrammed my way through the year again with plenty of henna and food photo's!

This year I want to blog more regularly, even if it is just twice a week. I'll be carrying on with my paintings and canvases as a micro-business. Also, I'll be applying (3rd time lucky) for my PGCE, which I hope to start in September. I think the experience from my current job will definitely support my application.

Other than that, I don't really have any New Years Resolutions.
I just want to be happy and healthy and enjoy life!

If you've been following me on Twitter, you'll know that I've come down with a combination of cold/temperature/flu. Sadly, I think this is due to the lack of a Summer here is the UK as well as being quite busy over the past week (which isn't going to slow down any time soon).
Also, Ramadhan is due to start either Friday 20th or Saturday 21st July (depending on the sighting of the moon) and as I'll be starting a temporary job on Sunday 22nd, it'll be likely that I won't be updating my blog as often as I want to. I am excited that Ramadhan is here (the year has gone so fast!) and inshaAllah I'll be trying to make the most of the blessed month.

What I've been up to recently

So exams have been over for two weeks now, and I've been keeping myself quite busy. From the Pearl Daisy Smiles Better event, to more recently painting canvases, making jewellery and doing more henna, I've been indulging my creative side (which I neglected over the past few months). If you follow me on Instagram, you're probably well informed of what I've been doing (I seem to Instagram everything at the moment!). Exam time! Actually it's a bit more than that this year, considering that I'm in my last year of uni and my final year project (a.k.a. dissertation) is due in less than two weeks with exams starting shortly after. So from now, until the end of May, please excuse me for the lack of blog posts.

I will have a few scheduled in as well as continue to update you on P10P:TakeII (which is going well so far), and at the end of May you can look forward to HFW (Hijabi Fashion Week) May 2012 outfit posts =)

The Big Egg Hunt London

If you're following me on twitter, you would know that last Thursday I went to Covent Garden to see the eggs from The Big Egg Hunt. Between 21st February to 3rd April over 200 decorated eggs were displayed across London, and they were then all displayed in and around the Covent Garden Piazza until yesterday. The eggs were auctioned off and TBEH merchandise sold, helping raise awareness and money for the two charities Action for Children and Elephant Family. Last year, there were elephants displayed around London, and this year's eggs are a symbol that represent new life, a fresh start and hope for the future. I thought it would be fun just to see all the different designs and creations, while recording how many I could actually find.

Weekend in Manchester

Over the weekend, I was in Manchester for a Walima. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take any pictures of what I was wearing (mostly because the camera was left at home!), although I do have a few random snaps taken on my phone from both Saturday and Sunday =)
