UnderMyAbaya: Winter Warmer

Haven't done an UnderMyAbaya post in ages! This one is inspired by the lack of sunshine and warm weather now that it's nearly winter here in the UK (just waiting for the snow to arrive).

UnderMyAbaya: Winter Warmer

AX Paris Patterned Sweater / Warehouse Straight Leg Jeans / New Look Buckle boots / Dorothy Perkins Bangle / Topshop Scarf

A cosy and comfortable under abaya outfit that's perfect for keeping me warm whilst not looking like I've got too many layers on (not that that's a bad thing). A knitted jumper dress/top worn with a pair of straight leg jeans that are tucked into the knee length boots (to avoid the whole soggy and uncomfortable trouser hems that are always a result of typical British weather). Accessorise with a simple bangle and a printed hijab to add something a little different and bring the whole outfit together.

It's easy to put an abaya (and probably a coat aswell) over the top of this outfit, and avoid looking too bulky.

What's your perfect winter outfit?

UnderMyAbaya: Casual Stripes

In case you don't know, I live in casual and comfy clothes =)

UnderMyAbaya: Casual Stripes

Easy. Simple. Casual. Perfect.

An under abaya outfit that is casual yet still stylish (with an overload of stripes!) consisting of a striped t-shirt dress paired with straight leg jeans. Add some more stripes with silk bangles and a stripy pair of ballet flats. A plain grey scarf with a lace edge to add a girly twist and to balance out the colourful stripy-ness (is that even a word?) of the outfit. This outfit can be easily adapted depending on the weather by adding a long sleeve basic top underneath, or a cardigan over the top (preferably without stripes!) =)

What do you think? Too many stripes?

UnderMyAbaya: Mint Bows

Another under abaya outfit inspired by Spring and the gorgeous pastel colours associated with the season. Although completely inappropriate for Spring weather in the UK, this sleeveless bow detail dress can be worn layered over a long sleeve top or under a cardigan. Pair with white straight leg jeans and accessorise with shades of white and grey, with a grey hijab and a white clutch bag. Add more bow detailing with satin bow flats and a crystallised bow brooch. Finish off with a teal glass bead coil bracelet on one wrist.

Is it Spring yet?

UnderMyAbaya:Spring is Near

(at least I hope it is!)

UnderMyAbaya: Spring is near

Dorothy Perkins Blue Tunic
Long Sleeve Shirt
French Connection Tie Pants
Ballet flat
Gold bangle

Betty Jackson woven scarf
Dorothy Perkins printed scarf

This under abaya outfit is completely inspired by the Spring season which is (hopefully) just around the corner. I love the mix of pastel colours contrasting with the dark navy on the tunic alongside the woven brown belt. I paired it with wide leg pale pink trousers (although they look like an off-white), with the tunic layered over a long sleeve white top. Shoes and accessories in complimentary colours, with mint coloured ballet flats and a simple brushed gold bracelet. I decided to use two scarves in this Polyvore set, as I think the outfit would look nice with either of the scarves, and also with a layered scarf style using both of them.

What do you think of this outfit?

UnderMyAbaya:Cold Day

ASOS striped over the knee socks, $8.73
Zipper boots, $50
Bangles, $34
Animal Print Scarf, £18
Skinny Jeans, $48

This under abaya outfit is perfect for a cold day. A long sleeve polo neck to keep warm, layered with a tunic so that when I take off the abaya, I'm still wearing something modest underneath. Paired with skinny jeans which are tucked into warm socks and then worn with casual slouch boots. Accessorise with diamante bangles for a bit of bling and a simple patterned scarf, preferably one which is made of a thicker material, or has a tight woven weave (so that it's keeps you warm).

What would you wear on a cold day?

UnderMyAbaya: The Lazy Day
Miss Selfridge Shirt, £22
American Eagle Outfitters Jeans, $25
Polka dot socks, $6
Converse canvas shoes, £30
Metal Bangle, $30
Floral Shawl, £18

This is the lazy day outfit. This outfit is the definitely the most worn, especially when there are unexpected visitors at the door (much easier to put on an abaya, than change your entire outfit!). This is also the under abaya outfit of choice when going shopping, as it's comfortable (and I like walking in my converse). Also, a crinkle hijab that doesn't require ironing is a must =)

What's your lazy day outfit?

UnderMyAbaya: Lace Dress

H&M lace dress, £25
Oasis black jeans, £10
ASOS ballet flat, $46
Oasis bangle bracelet, £16
Rocha.John Rocha Antique Lace Scarf, £20

Currently, I am loving all things lace, especially on dresses and shoes. I still like to keep my under abaya outfits quite modest as it means that I can remove my abaya when I don't need to wear it (i.e. in the presence of mahram/women).

UnderMyAbaya:Collection of outfits to wear under an abaya

A new series of Polyvore sets, which are based on what I would wear under my abaya (as you can guess from the name). Outfits worn underneath the abaya can be pretty much whatever you want to wear (as no-one is going to see them), and in the past I have even worn my pajama's! I still like to keep the outfits modest, as it then means I can take off my abaya when at a relatives house (i.e. grandparents/uncles/aunts etc.).

I'm definitely looking forward to posting these sets =)
